Description
The lily pond in our back yard is full of life - from early spring peepers to cute critter creepers. I love to see the wonderful long green stems of these perennial waterlilies slowly rise about 3 feet from the pond floor in early spring to dress the naked surface water with gorgeous green lily pads. As spring slides into summer, the burgundy waterlilies glow like rubies and the white ones like diamonds in the dappled sunlight created by nearby shade trees. The speckled koi and goldfish who have survived below the ice through winter, enjoy the summer shade and protection of these amazing water plants but they race to greet me sparkling in the sunlight as they eat their food from my hand.
By the end of July, the spent yellow iris blooms have been replaced by 3-inch seed pods that dangle overhead and the dainty wild white baby's breath at the edge of the pond glitters in morning dew. The tiny tadpoles have grown into little frogs. In this scene, a mama frog sits lazily on her favorite lily pad patiently waiting for a passing snack to fly by, jumping in for a dip in the pond when it suits her. This must be FROG HEAVEN!

What a wonderful tranquil scene Hanne. If I were a tadpole, that's exactly where I would hope to live. Love this!!

Hanne, it is so hard to choose just a few of your paintings, one over another or one at all that outshines them all. It's not "hard", it's impossible. But, I will keep trying!!! :D
