Beautiful illustrations! Hanne, you have such an amazing gift. Is pooka the giant rabbit? F
Hanne Lore Koehler replied:
The Pooka is a mischievous Irish fairytale character. Based on Irish folklore, he can transform himself into many different animals to deceive and cause mischief to unsuspecting folk. Many of the Irish immigrants to Canada settled in Newfoundland so tales of this character are often told in this area along with sayings like "Watch out or the Pooka will get you!" I have not heard of a giant rabbit as the Pooka but it seems quite possible! Thank you for your wonderful comment and question, my friend!
