Medium
Painting - Oil On Hardboard
Description
This is an oil painting by my dad, Otto Werner (1923 - 1991) of a Mexican guitar player. My parents loved to travel and one of their favorite places to visit was Mexico. They loved the culture, the food, the people and the music (in particular a song called Cielito Lindo) and would inevitably return home with suitcases of souvenirs. The "Ay, ay, ay, ay" song would play for weeks on our Hi-Fi record player. (Yes, I'm that old).

Is true, your father capture beautifuly the feelings of the mariachero. I can hear the "serenatas" very early in the morning. The mariachis were very important in our lives. Thank you for sharing your fathers work.

Ah, a wonderfully painted picture your dad did, Hanne Lore. So you got your great talent from your father :-) Helga has lived in Mexico for some time in a local family many, many years ago! The music of the Mariachis.... the colors... the food .... the people, all Mexico ... a wonderful experience! Cielito lindo, Helga loves this song. The songs of the Mariachis are right out of the full life ... Ay yai yai yai .... canta no llore (sing, dont cry) Thank you for sharing, Hanne Lore! It doesn't matter how old we are, what counts is how we feel! And you seem to us very young in your heart!
Hanne Lore Koehler replied:
Thank you for your lovely comment, Heiko and Helga. Glad to see it brought back memories!
